What is Expertalive?
Expertalive mission is to empower people all over the world with the knowledge they need to improve their lives. By sharing and growing the world's knowledge, we can help people connect and learn from each other. With access to a vast amount of knowledge, people can find answers to their questions, solve problems, and make better decisions.
How do I get started using Expertalive
Expertalive works because the community comes together to ask and answer questions. When you want to know more about something, Expertalive delivers you answers and content from people who know the answer - like real doctors, economists, screenwriters, police officers, and military veterans. Keep the community alive by asking questions when you have them and answering questions when you can!
The easiest way to get started with Expertalive is by using your feed. Your feed is filled with stories that interest you, and you can view it by going to the homepage. You can make your feed even better by following topics and people that interest you, and taking actions in your feed that tell Expertalive what you like. For example, when you follow a topic, questions and answers tagged with that topic will appear in your feed. And when you follow people, you will see questions and answers posted by these people in your feed.

How do I write an answer on Expertalive?
Expertalive is a great platform for sharing your knowledge and insights on various topics. To write an answer to a question, simply click on the "Answer" button. You can write answers from the Write Answer page, when you see questions in your feed, and from topic pages.
How do I ask question on Expertalive?
This will bring up a prompt where you can start typing your question.
There are multiple ways to ask a question on Expertalive:
On the web, click the "Add Question" button at the top-right of the page. You can also start typing your question into the search bar at the top. You will be shown search results based on what you've typed. If you don't see a version of your question that already exists, click "Add New Question" to add it to Expertalive.
On the mobile app, tap the "Add" link in the top-right.
On web and mobile, from your Expertalive Home page, click on the "What is you". This will bring up a prompt where you can start typing your question.

How do I add or change my Expertalive profile picture?
On the Web: To change your profile picture, visit your profile page by clicking on "Profile" from the menu in the upper right-hand corner. Hover over your current photo, and you'll see the option to "Edit Photo." Follow the prompts to select a new photo from your computer.
What does "Request Answers" mean and how does it work?
When you click the "Request" option below a question's title, you'll see suggestions for people on Expertalive who might be able to answer that question. You can also search for specific Expertalive users to send them an answer request. Asking questions is a great way to encourage writers to generate content that you'll enjoy and benefit from!
The answer requests will be prioritized according to the following factors:
How many requests the target writer receives and subsequently answers over a period of time
Whether the specific question is tagged with a topic that the writer has expertise in and/or which is listed in the writer's Knows About profile section
Whether the request is sent from a person that the writer follows
and/or interacts with on a regular basis.
Answer request notifications are separated into two categories: 'high priority' and 'other requests'. High priority requests are individual notifications from people you follow. All other requests are grouped together in a notification. If you click on the notification, you'll see each request individually. You can also visit your Answer Requests page by clicking the 'Answer' icon, then clicking 'View All'.

How can I hide a user from my Expertalive feed?
If you want to stop seeing content from a particular user, you can mute them. To do this, go to their profile page and select "Mute" from the more menu ("..."). Once the user has been muted, you'll no longer see their content in your feed. You can view the topics and users you've muted by visiting the "Blocked & Muted" section of your settings.
How do I prevent my Expertalive profile and/or name from appearing on search engines like Google?
If you want to keep your Expertalive profile and/or name private, go to your privacy settings page and set the option "Allow search engines to index your name?" to "No". This will prevent Expertalive from instructing search engines like Google to index your profile page, and your linked name anywhere else it appears on Expertalive, including answers you've written and any @-mentions. In other words, if someone searches your name on Google, your answers and profile page will not come up.
If you're worried about people being able to Google your name and see all of your Expertalive answers or comments that are not anonymous, this option can help protect you. However, if you think that your public Expertalive answers will improve your reputation and you want more people to see them, you should not use this setting. For this change to take effect, Google needs to re-crawl pages and update its index; we don't have any control over how long this process takes, but it typically happens fairly quickly.
If you're worried about people being able to Google your name and see all of your Expertalive answers or comments that are not anonymous, this option can help protect you. How do I delete my Expertalive account?
Expertalive allows users to delete their account if they choose to do so. Deleting your Expertalive account means that the following content will be removed from public view: Your profile including photos and bio, your answers, comments, posts, votes, endorsements, messages, and questions you may have asked. Questions on Expertalive are community owned, but will not be associated with your name publicly. Deletion of your account is not reversible once the process is complete.

If you want to delete your account, go to your account privacy settings and hit "Delete Account". It'll ask you for a password confirmation (if you made the account through Google or Facebook, you'll need to create a password by clicking the "Change Password" link at the top of the page, then clicking "create an account password"). After you confirm the deletion of your account, it'll be deactivated immediately.
Once the 14-day grace period has expired and your account has been deleted, your content and profile will be permanently deleted, and personal data associated with your account will be removed from Expertalive databases. We take data privacy and security very seriously, and we make every effort to ensure that your data is deleted from our systems. However, as described in our Privacy Policy , we may preserve your data if necessary to comply with legal obligations (subpoenas, legal process, or other court-ordered obligations). Keep in mind that your content may have been republished or shared

How do I deactivate my Expertalive account? Can it be reactivated later?
Deactivating your Expertalive account is simple and can be done in just a few steps. First, navigate to the 'Settings' tab on the Expertalive website. Then, under the 'Privacy' tab, click on 'Deactivate Account'. Please be aware that, by deactivating your account, you will no longer receive any emails or notifications from Expertalive . However, any content you've posted will still be available on the site. You can reactivate your account at any time by simply logging back into the Expertalive website or app using your email address and password.
What's the difference between deactivating and deleting my Expertalive account?
If you would like to deactivate your account, you can do so at any time by logging back in. This will stop you from receiving any emails or notifications from Expertalive, but your content will still be available on the site. If you would no longer like to have your content available on Expertalive, we recommend proceeding with the deletion of your account. This will permanently remove your content from the site. How does anonymity work on Expertalive?
Anonymity is important to us at Expertalive because it allows people to share knowledge without fear of retribution. We take many precautions to ensure the anonymity of our users, including technical and operational measures. We believe that everyone has the right to share their knowledge without fear, and we will continue to do everything in our power to protect that right. Thank you for trusting us with your anonymity.
How do I block someone on Expertalive?
You can prevent another person from interacting with you on Expertalive by visiting their profile page and selecting "Block." If you block someone, they will not be able to follow you, subscribe to you, send you messages, comment on your answers, notify you if you're @-mentioned by them, or send you A2A requests. Does Expertalive ever sell my personal data to third parties for marketing?
